Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was arrested from the High Court of Islamabad on Tuesday (May 9). After which there is a tension like atmosphere in the country. Imran's arrest has triggered violent protests by his angry supporters in several major cities. Protests are taking place across Pakistan against Khan's arrest. There are also reports of violence in many places. The areas where the protests are taking place include high-security areas where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters and army personnel clashed.

 

Earlier on Tuesday, protesters in Pakistan entered the residence of army commanders in Lahore and the army headquarters compound in Rawalpindi. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police have implemented Section 144 in many cities. Meanwhile, news is coming that Imran Khan is likely to remain in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for four to five days as the bureau has requested the court for his maximum remand under the law.

 

 

According to the Dawn newspaper, a NAB source said on Tuesday that Khan would be produced before the accountability court today (Wednesday). We will try our best to keep them in custody for at least four to five days, the source said. Under the new amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, the period of physical remand granted by any court has been reduced from 90 days to 14 days.

Along with this, internet service has also been stopped. Several people reported being unable to access the social media platforms on Tuesday evening. According to the outage-tracking website DownDetector.com, users were unable to log into their accounts on all three platforms.

Along with this, a large number of smartphone users have also complained about WhatsApp not working, it is not working on both desktop and mobile. Also, according to reports, internet speed was slowed down for many users across the country. Is.

 

The partial suspension of social media platforms and WhatsApp comes soon after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists and supporters launched nationwide protests following the arrest of party president Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

 

Section 144 implemented in many cities

Immediately after the arrest of Imran Khan, Section 144 was imposed in Islamabad and some other cities to control the law and order situation, while examinations in some cities were postponed due to violent protests. On Tuesday, Section 144 was also implemented in the entire Punjab. Apart from this, schools have also been closed on Wednesday. However, according to the information received from the police, there has been no incident of violence in the country's capital Islamabad so far.

 

The clash between protesters and army

One person was reported killed in clashes between protesters and the army in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. Apart from this, there is information about the injuries of five people. While about 15 people were reported injured in similar violence in Karachi, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. The protesters also ransacked the headquarters of the Pakistan Army in Rawalpindi.
