
Before the start of the budget session in Parliament, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi will hold a meeting with the leaders of all the parties of both houses. This meeting will be held this afternoon in the Parliamentary Library. The session will begin with the address of President Draupadi Murmu. This session will conclude on February 9.
Meeting with all the leaders before the budget session
Prahlad Joshi has invited leaders of all parties to attend this meeting. The budget session will be the last Parliament session of the current Lok Sabha, just before the elections to be held in April-May this year. The Union Finance Minister will present the interim budget on Thursday, February 1.
Let us tell you that in this meeting, the agenda of the session is shared by the government with the opposition. Apart from this, cooperation from the opposition is requested for the smooth functioning of the House.
CII recommended creating a separate investment ministry
The interim budget generally takes care of the financial needs of the intervening period after the Lok Sabha elections till the formation of the government. Giving its expectations and recommendations regarding the budget, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has said that the government should set a 3-year program for disinvestment and meet the disinvestment targets. Apart from this, the goal of the three rate structure should be achieved by including petroleum, electricity, and real estate in GST. Also, the government has been requested to increase capital expenditure by 20 percent to Rs 12 lakh crore and establish a separate investment ministry.
