Pakistani players dominate in ICC Awards: Babar Azam and Rizwan in ODIs and T20s, Player of the Year Shaheen

ICC has announced the names of the best players of 2021. Pakistani players dominated this award. At the same time, the shame of India has been saved by Smriti Mandhana. Mandhana has been named Woman Cricketer of the Year by ICC.

 

Pakistan's captain Babar Azam is the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year, while Pakistan's fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been chosen as the Men's Cricketer of the Year. Mohammad Rizwan has already become the T20 Cricketer of the Year.

 

Shaheen Afridi is the youngest player of the year. He achieved this honor at the age of 21. Shaheen played 36 international matches in the year 2021 and took 78 wickets with a tremendous average of 22.20. His best performance was six wickets for 51 runs.

 

Talking about Test cricket, England captain Joe Root has made his mark and has been chosen as the Test Cricketer of the Year for the year 2021.

 

Smriti Mandhana has once again become the Woman Cricketer of the Year after 2018. Mandhana played 22 international matches in 2021 and scored 855 runs at an average of 38.86. Apart from Mandhana, no other Indian player could show his flair in the ICC Awards.

 

Babar did wonders in ODIs in 2021

Babar Azam scored 405 runs in the year 2021 with the help of two centuries in six matches. During this, his average was 67.50. He scored the highest 228 runs in the ODI series against South Africa. He scored a century in the first ODI.

 

In the last ODI, an innings of 94 runs came from his bat. Azam took over the captaincy of Pakistan only last year and under his captaincy, Pakistan defeated India for the first time in the World Cup. He has also been selected as the captain of the ODI team of the year 2021 and the captain of the T20 team at the ICC Awards.

 

Concerning Joe Root

England's Test captain Joe Root has been named the Test Cricketer of the Year in 2021 for his amazing performance in Test cricket. He was competing with 4 big players in which R. Ashwin was also there. Joe Root played a total of 15 Test matches in 2021. During this, he scored 1708 runs with 6 centuries. He was also the England batsman to score the most Test runs in a calendar year.
