People above the age of 18 years will be able to get the precautionary (third dose) of the Covid vaccine free of cost at government immunization centers in the country. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Union Minister Anurag Thakur gave this information by holding a press conference. Free Precautionary Dose will be given under a special campaign of 75 days. It will start on 15th July. He said that 199 crore 60 thousand vaccinations have been done so far.

 

Anurag Thakur said, "India is celebrating 75 years of independence. A decision has also been taken on the occasion of Amrit Kaal of Azadi that free of cost booster doses to citizens above 18 years of age for the next 75 days from 15th July 2022. will be given." So far, less than one percent of the 77 crores eligible population aged 18 to 59 years have been given a preventive dose. However, about 160 million people above 60 years of age and about 26 percent of health workers and frontline workers have already received booster doses.

 

Apart from this, he informed that the Union Cabinet has approved the connectivity of Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road with the railway network. This new railway line of 116 km will be ready in just 4 years and it will cost 2798 crores. The Union Minister said that this new railway line will provide convenience to the citizens living in the border areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Work will be done to connect the important places of Rajasthan and Gujarat with this. Gatishakti Vishwavidyalaya located in Vadodara, Gujarat will get the status of Deemed University.
