
A bullet-riddled body of a police sub-inspector has been found under mysterious circumstances in the Pampore area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district. Two pistol cartridges were also recovered from the spot. After the incident, the security forces started a search operation in the entire area.
The sub-inspector has been identified as Farooq Ahmed Mir (50). He was posted in 23 Battalion IRP at Lethpera in Pampora. His family consists of his father, wife, and three children. These include two daughters and a son.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that on Friday evening, Farooq Ahmad Mir had left his house in Sambura and went towards the paddy fields, where terrorists targeted him and killed him. A bullet-like mark was found near his heart. Which organization is behind this murder, is not yet known.

Basit was involved in the murder of BJP sarpanch Rasool Dar, his wife in Anantnag last year. At the same time, two terrorists were killed by the soldiers in the encounter in Shopian.
