An emergency landing was made in Mumbai of an Indigo Airlines flight going from Delhi to Goa. The reason behind this is said to be a fault in the engine. Indigo flight 6E 6271 took off from Delhi to Goa (Delhi Goa Indigo Flight).

The scheduled landing time of the plane was 9.42 pm, but the pilot gave a danger signal at around 9.25 pm. The pilot said 'PAN PAN PAN', after which the plane landed safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai at 9.52 pm.

What does 'PAN PAN PAN' mean?

It is being told that the pilot of the Indigo flight going from Delhi to Goa made a sound of PAN PAN PAN due to a fault in the engine of the plane. This is an emergency message indicating any life-threatening emergency.

Indigo flight 6E 6271 Airbus A320 Neo has two engines. Such aircraft have the ability to land safely even on one engine. The same happened in this case and then an emergency landing was made in Mumbai.

Difference between PAN PAN PAN and MAYDAY

PAN PAN PAN is an international emergency message, which is used in aviation communication.

It indicates a moderate level of emergency.

There is no immediate danger in it, but the situation is such that immediate help or attention may be required.

This means that it indicates a less serious situation than Mayday.

MAYDAY is used when there is an immediate danger to the aircraft.

PAN PAN PAN indicates a defect and immediate assistance.

It is derived from the French word 'panne', which means a defect or problem.

How many passengers were on board?

There were 191 people on board Indigo flight 6E 6271. This plane took off from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport to Goa's Manohar International Airport, but due to engine failure mid-way, the flight had to make an emergency landing in Mumbai.

IndiGo's statement

Airline company IndiGo has not confirmed the failure of the plane's engine. The airline said that the plane was diverted to Mumbai due to technical fault.

An IndiGo spokesperson said, a technical fault was detected during takeoff on the flight from Delhi to Goa on July 16. Following the procedures, the plane was diverted and landed at Mumbai's International Airport. Necessary investigations will be done before resuming the operation of this flight.
