In Pakistan, all the measures to get rid of the poliovirus seem to be failing. Here the fourth case of this year has come to the fore and WHO is concerned about it. A 13-month-old baby is suffering from polio in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state.
Apart from Pakistan, cases of polio have also been reported in neighboring Afghanistan. Now, these are the only two countries left in the world, where every year the lives of children are being destroyed by this terrible virus.
Polio after Vaccine?
According to a report in Pakistan's newspaper 'The Dawn', two cases of polio were reported last year in North Waziristan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This time poliovirus has been found in 13-month-old Mir Ali. According to the report, the most surprising thing is that this child was also given the oral polio vaccine. Despite this, he is suffering from polio. Now health agencies are investigating the matter. The government has also sought a report on this matter.
Apart from Khyber's North and South Waziristan, the first cases have also been reported in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Tank, and Lakki Marwat districts. Two cases were reported in April and early May.
More danger in the same district
According to the report, some more cases may come up in North Waziristan. Two reasons are important for this. First- the people here are negligent in getting polio vaccination. Second- Finger marking or marking is not done after vaccination. Khyber shares its border with Afghanistan. Here the oral drop of polio is also given at the check posts. Despite this, most of the cases are coming from here.
This is the fifth case of this year in the world. The five cases that have been found so far in 2022. Four of them are from Pakistan and one from Afghanistan. Pakistan's Health Minister Abdul Qadir said - 99% of this virus has been controlled in the world. It is our bad luck that cases are still coming to the fore in Pakistan.
give children the right to genes
Talking to the media, Qadir said – After all, every child has the right to live a polio-free life. I do not understand why the parents of the children are putting their own children's lives in danger by being careless in this matter. As a country also we have to pay a big price for this. There are 156 districts in our country. We are running a polio-free campaign in all these from 23rd May to 27th May. I request that this time no parent should hesitate. If they want to see their children polio-free, then get them vaccinated.
