President Draupadi Murmu will be on a five-day tour of South India from today (Monday). President Murmu will first reach Hyderabad. President Murmu will stay at Nilayam in Bolarum, Secunderabad, Hyderabad. According to the President's Secretariat, President Murmu will visit the Srisailam temple in Andhra Pradesh on December 26 and inaugurate projects related to the development of the Srisailam temple under the Prasad scheme of the Union Ministry of Tourism.

President Murmu will be on a five-day tour

Explain that this will be Murmu's first visit to Hyderabad after being elected to the post of President in July 2022. During her five-day stay, she will visit the Ramappa and Bhadrachalam temples, besides participating in locally organized programs in President Murmu town.

Strong arrangements made for the security of the President

The Telangana government has made elaborate arrangements for the President's stay. The security agencies have taken control of President Nilayam for tight security. The army, police, revenue, and other departments have made arrangements for the arrival and stay of the President.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar reviewed the preparations

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar held a meeting with officials of various departments to review the preparations for the President's visit. He has directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Cantonment to carry out road repair work and barricading so that traffic can move smoothly at Rashtrapati Nilayam. He also directed the Electricity Department to ensure a 24-hour power supply, the Medical Department to deploy medical teams, and other departments to make arrangements at Rashtrapati Nilayam as per protocol.

President Draupadi Murmu will interact with students

Let us inform you that President Draupadi Murmu will visit Keshav Memorial School in the city on December 27 and will interact with the students. She will also participate in the unveiling of the plaque of 'Har Dil Dhyan, Har Din Dhyan' campaign organized by Shri Ramchandra Mission to commemorate 100 years of Shri Ramchandraji Maharaj of Fatehpur at Kana Shanti Vanam in Rangareddy district. She will also inaugurate the Wide Plate Mill of Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) in Hyderabad.

The President will also visit the Statue of Equality

President Draupadi Murmu will visit Shri Sitaram Chandra Swamivari Devasthanam, Bhadrachalam on 28 December. Apart from this, on December 29, the President will interact with the students of G Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science in Hyderabad. On the same day, she will also visit the Statue of Equality at Sriramnagaram, Shamshabad. President Murmu will return to Delhi on 30 December.

Why is Rashtrapati Nilayam important?

It is noteworthy that the President stays at the Rashtrapati Nilayam at least once a year and conducts official business from there. It was constructed in 1860 as the country house of the British Resident in Secunderabad. After the merger of Hyderabad State with India in 1948, it became the residence of the President. Mir Osman Ali Khan, the then Raj Pramukh of Hyderabad, officially handed over President Nilayam to the government on August 14, 1955. Thus it has become the third official residence of the President after Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi and Rashtrapati Niwas in Shimla.
