Prophet Muhammad Row: Curfew imposed in Ranchi after the violence, SSP injured in stone-pelting

Prophet Muhammad Row: A fierce protest took place in Ranchi on Friday in protest against the remarks made by the suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma on Prophet Muhammad. During this, vehicles were set on fire and vandalized. At present, a curfew has been imposed in Ranchi urban area because of the situation. More than 2 dozen people have been injured in stone-pelting and lathi charges. Ranchi SSP Surendra Kumar Jha, who came to control the uncontrollable crowd, has also been injured in stone-pelting, he has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

 

Additional police force called

 

Let us tell you that by opposing Nupur Sharma's statement, people became uncontrollable after Friday prayers. To stop them, the police fired several rounds of air. Lathi-charge was also done on the agitating protesters. When the efforts to control the continuous disturbance from 2 pm to 5 pm failed, the district administration imposed a curfew. An additional police force has been called to control the situation in the city. Rapid Action Force and a large number of policemen have been called to control the situation on Main Road, Karbala Chowk, and Doranda.

 

Situation is tense but under control

 

Ranchi DIG Anish Gupta said, "The situation is a bit tense but under control. We are making every effort from our side. Heavy security forces have been deployed. Senior officials are also present on the spot. From here the crowd has dispersed."
