Punjab Chunav 2022: AAP targets Congress for not making Sunil Jakhar as CM, says - was not given the post because of being a Hindu

Posted on 3rd Feb 2022 05:17 pm by rohit kumar

The opposition has attacked the Congress for not making senior Punjab Congress leader Sunil Jakhar the CM despite the support of 42 MLAs. Aam Aadmi Party has linked it to Hindu society. AAP's Punjab co-in-charge Raghav Chadha said that Congress did not make Jakhar the CM just because he was a Hindu. In the press conference, Chadha alleged that Congress has tried to divide Punjab into religious lines. The second-class treatment of Jakhar is unfortunate.

Sunil Jakhar had disclosed in the public meeting

Former Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar, while addressing a public meeting, said that after the removal of Captain Amarinder Singh, there was voting in the Congress for the new CM. Out of 79 MLAs, 42 voted in my favor. Charanjit Singh Channi had only two MLAs with him. Despite this, he became the CM. Jakhar said that after me the maximum of 16 MLAs had named Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, 12 MLAs named Preneet Kaur, wife of Captain Amarinder Singh. Six MLAs voted in favor of Navjot Singh Sidhu.

What is Jakhar saying in the video?

This video of Sunil Jakhar is going viral on social media. Jakhar is also the chairman of the Congress's campaign committee in Punjab. In the video, Sunil Jakhar is telling people that 42 MLAs voted for me. 16 MLAs voted for Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. While 12 MLAs gave their support to Preneet Kaur. Navjot Singh Sidhu got six votes and Charanjit Singh Channi got two votes.

Why did Rahul not become Deputy CM?

Sunil Jakhar said that I do not have any grievance. Rahul Gandhi called me and said Sunil, I am making you Deputy CM, why not become one. I said that my name will come and 42 MLAs have voted, it is an honor.
