Special conversation: Ila Arun said – Bappi Dada's contribution to the music industry is huge, used to give importance to his artist

Bappi da left a little early. If his health had not deteriorated, then he had such energy that he would have created a ruckus in music for 10 years, because he had such great charisma. He used to silently watch how the times are changing, the audience wants and how the music is changing. He brought this change at a time when big giant composers were standing. Like RD Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Kalyanji-Anandji Bhai, Naushad… all were giving great music in their way. But suddenly a young man comes and changes the definition of music. He did this challenge and got himself accepted. Then came a time that apart from Bappi Da, no one else was taking the name of the music industry.

South people were also coming in this direction and Amitabh Bachchan's films, be it Namak Halal, Sharabi… went on giving super-duper hit music in many films. After this, he started with Mithun Chakraborty by giving Disco Dancer…, after that he made himself a genre and became a disco king. Introduced rock music in a different-different way. The interesting thing is that even today, from young to old, people sing Bappi Da's songs.

Grandfather came to my daughter's wedding

My personal experience is that the Bappi da family had come for our daughter Ishita's wedding. When Bappi da came, I did not dare to tell him that Dada aap bhi Singh. But the grandfather said that Ila sang at the wedding of both my children. I said it was my duty. But when Dada came on stage, he was frozen singing for an hour. The slogan was that the young people were not allowing him to get off the stage. The interesting thing was that when he was singing, he did not have his music band, but our music band. Since Dada's songs are so popular that he could stand and sing anywhere.

Alka Yagnik, Asha Bhosle, Sulakshana Pandit, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Anuradha Paudwal… have sung most of the songs. He had a very good relationship with KC Bokadia. Everyone has said that he was a very good person. His specialty was also that he used to give an important place to his artists because the artist has his limitations.
