Purple cap in IPL 2022: Yuzvendra and Natarajan shared 12-12 wickets; Still, Chahal retains his purple cap, know why

Purple cap in IPL 2022: Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler T Natarajan took a wicket in the 28th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against Punjab Kings on Sunday. After this performance, Natarajan has now taken 12 wickets and he has reached the second number in the list of highest wicket-takers this season.

 

Rajasthan Royal's leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also has 12 wickets and currently, the Purple Cap of IPL 2022 is with Chahal. Yuzvendra and Natarajan have 12-12 wickets in common, yet Chahal retains the purple cap as Chahal has played one match less than Natarajan. Apart from this, Chahal has given fewer runs than Natarajan.

 

Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav has slipped to number three in the Purple Cap race. Kuldeep has 11 wickets from five matches. He is now only one wicket away from the 12 wickets of Chahal and Natarajan. Avesh Khan of Lucknow Super Giants and Wanindu Hasaranga of Bangalore also have 11-11 wickets. These bowlers are also in the top-5 and remain in the race for the Purple Cap.

 

Umesh Yadav of Kolkata Knight Riders and Draven Bravo of Chennai Super Kings is at number six and seven with 10-10 wickets in 6-6 matches respectively. At the same time, Rahul Chahar of Punjab Kings and Umran Malik of Sunrisers Hyderabad are also at number eight and ninth with 9-9 wickets in 6-6 matches respectively. Apart from them, Mohammed Shami of Gujarat Titans remains in the top-10 with eight wickets in six matches.
