Gurgaon, Feb 18 (IANS) Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member from Uttarakhand Manorama Dobriyal Sharma Wednesday died here at a private hospital, a doctor said.
Sharma, 59, was undergoing treatment at Artemis Hospital in Gurgaon.
Sharma, who was admitted to the hospital Jan 31 had undergone a liver transplantFeb 13. She passed away Wednesday morning at 10.30, the doctor said.
The doctor also said she was put on ventilator support Tuesday after she developed few complications and finally succumbed.
Sharma is survived by her husband and three sons. Her body is being taken to Dehradun Wednesday evening for cremation, a family member told IANS over the phone.
Sharma, the first woman member of the Upper House from Uttarakhand and a former mayor of Dehradun, was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha last November.
