New Delhi, March 19 (IANS) Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Thursday inaugurated the first national workshop on photography and videography, designed according to parameters of government's "Skill India initiative".
Speaking on the occasion, Rathore said the initiative for the workshop was based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's thrust on upgrading skills through appropriate training methods.
He said the workshop was an attempt to hone the skills of government personnel associated with photography and videography on the principles of 'Skill India'.
According to an official release, Rathore said the ministry would explore the possibility of organising similar workshops in other parts of the country, including the northeast.
He said technology was the principal driver of innovation and it had become a critical determinant in enhancing the skills of the individual and organisation.
The minister said reach of social media had impacted photography and videography and led to instant communication across different social media platforms.
Bimal Julka, secretary of information and broadcasting ministry, said the workshop had been designed to address immense skill opportunities that had emerged in the media and entertainment sector.
About 25 organisations from across the country are attending the day-long workshop.
