What is 'One China Policy

When civil war broke out in 1949, the Communists and the government of the Kuomintang revolted. In this, the Kuomintang people were defeated and then they went to Taiwan and formed the government there. Now it is claimed from both sides that they are the officers of the entire area. China says that Taiwan is a divided part of it and one day it has to be included in the mainland. It does not recognize the elected government of Taiwan. China also considers Hong Kong, Tibet, and Xinjiang as its territory. Due to pressure from China, countries including the US could not recognize Taiwan as an independent country.
