Paytm Stock Rally: Ace Investor Who Bought During Crisis Now Gains ₹865 Crore

Posted on 10th Aug 2026 04:22 pm by rohit kumar

The investment made by Akash Bhansali—a seasoned stock market investor associated with Enam Holdings—in Paytm (One97 Communications) has proven to be a jackpot. According to recent shareholding data and market reports, Bhansali's investment of approximately ₹360 crore in Paytm has now surged to around ₹1,225 crore.

Akash Bhansali built his stake in Paytm when the company was going through its most difficult phase. In early 2024, the company's shares had plummeted following strict restrictions imposed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Paytm Payments Bank. Bhansali disclosed a 1.21% stake in the company during the April-June 2024 quarter—a time when the stock was hovering near its all-time low.

Investment Math: Capital Grew 3.4 Times

According to reports, Paytm's share price touched an intraday high of approximately ₹1,546 on Monday. At this price, the value of the 7,921,162 shares held by Bhansali is estimated at around ₹1,225 crore. This represents 3.4 times his initial investment of ₹360 crore; in other words, he has generated a profit of approximately ₹865 crore in a very short span of time.

Increase in Shareholding

A review of past data reveals that Bhansali has increased his stake over time. In June 2024, he held a 1.21% stake in Paytm. By September 2024, the stake had risen to 1.24% (7,921,162 shares). According to the latest data, he has maintained this holding.

Key Reason for the Surge in Paytm Shares

Paytm shares rallied by approximately 9% on Monday. The reason for this surge was a report by brokerage firm Bernstein, which maintained its 'outperform' rating on the stock and raised its target price to ₹2,200.
