School Holiday Tamil Nadu: Schools are closed in Tamil Nadu's Puducherry, Karaikal today, heavy rain continues

School Holiday Tamil Nadu: Heavy rain continues in Tamil Nadu. The state government has decided to declare Thursday, November 3, 2022, a holiday in all schools in Puducherry and Karaikal districts. The announcement comes after all the schools were closed due to the incessant rains in various districts of the state of Tamil Nadu. State Education Minister A Namasivayam announced the closure of schools today. According to the news agency ANI, the holiday has been declared as per the announcement made by the Chennai Meteorological Center.

The Tamil Nadu government also declared a holiday for schools in Chennai, Ranipet, and Tiruvallur districts on November 2, 2022. The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) had announced the closure of schools after forecasting heavy rains in Chennai till November 2 and heavy to very heavy rainfall in Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts in the next few days. According to local media reports, the RMC has further said that the rains are expected to continue till at least Sunday, November 6, 2022. Schools in various districts are expected to be closed or closed due to heavy rains in the southern states.

 

IMD had predicted rain in Puducherry, Karaikal

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in the state and Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, and other districts in the next few days. There was also a possibility of rain in some parts of Puducherry, Karaikal. Earlier on Tuesday, November 1 was declared a holiday in schools and colleges due to heavy rains in some districts of Tamil Nadu. According to a report by the news agency, there will be a holiday in schools in Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai districts. In Tiruvannamalai, a holiday was declared in schools and colleges in Cheyyar, Vandavasi, Chetpet, and Vembakkam taluks.
