According to the news agency ANI, the holiday has been declared as per the announcement made by the Chennai Meteorological Center.

The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) had announced the closure of schools after forecasting heavy rains in Chennai till November 2 and heavy to very heavy rainfall in Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts in the next few days. According to local media reports, the RMC has further said that the rains are expected to continue till at least Sunday, November 6, 2022. Schools in various districts are expected to be closed or closed due to heavy rains in the southern states.
