Serious threat to America's democracy: 69% believe that democracy is not stable as before; The attitude of the Republican Party became a challenge

America has experienced tremendous political upheaval in the last hundred years. The Great Depression raised doubts among Americans about the country's economic system. The Second World War and the Cold War exposed the dangers of global monopolistic activities. The 1960s and '70s were filled with events such as assassinations, riots, the defeat of the Vietnam War, and a recklessly withdrawing president. Still, American democracy remained stable, but today is different. The situation America is in today has never been like this before.

the first danger is raging

Within the Republican Party, one of the country's two major parties, there is a growing stir of non-acceptance of electoral defeat. The attack on the Congress building-Capital Hill on January 6, 2021, is a clear result of this campaign to block the approval of Parliament for the election of President Joe Biden.

Hundreds of Republican elected representatives in the country falsely claim that the 2020 presidential election was rigged. Some of these officers are the heads of state election offices. They are capable of reversing the outcome of elections in 2024 and beyond.

Yascha Maunk, a political scientist at Johns Hopkins University, says it is likely that for the first time in US history, a legally elected president may not be allowed to take office. Due to economic inequality and disagreements on many issues, many Americans are raising doubts about the country's governance system. In a recent survey by Quinnipiac University, 69% of Democrat supporters and 69% of Republican supporters say that democracy is in danger of collapsing.

The second threat is incurable and is increasing

The power system which decides the government policy is getting cut off from the opinion of the common people. Some Supreme Court decisions, including abortion, put forward this separation. Although the Democratic Party has won seven of the last eight presidential elections by public vote, the Supreme Court is dominated by Republican-nominated judges. They will continue to determine the course of American politics for years. Two of the last four US presidents have won elections despite falling behind in the popular vote.

Senators, who represent the majority of Americans, often fail to get the necessary bills passed. The problem is compounded by the low representation of more populous states in the Senate and the electoral college for the presidential election. These states are much bigger than smaller states. Many pro-Democrats agree with the concerns of historians and democracy experts.

The ever-increasing gap between big and small towns and villages

There are different reasons for the serious threats to democracy and the rise of dictatorial sentiments. They show a glimpse of the desperation caused by the slow improvement in the living standards of the American working class and middle class over the past fifty years. They also put forward the fear of whites. Whites are expected to be more diverse based on race, and color and less religious in America.

Economic despair and fears of change have widened the gap between affluent, diverse urban areas and traditional, religious, economically struggling small towns and villages in American political life. In the first category comes the liberal and Democratic sections, and in the second category are the conservative and Republican sections.
