Shahid Afridi sends a message to BCCI, challenges Indian board on the pretext of Kashmir Premier League

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi often remains in the discussion about his controversial statements. The former all-rounder is once again in the news for his statement. Afridi has targeted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the Kashmir Premier League (KPL). KPL was launched last year. Big players born in Pakistan including Afridi play in this league. The KPL has been approved by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), while the BCCI has always opposed the league as the tournament is played in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, a disputed territory between India and Pakistan.

Former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs had last year accused the BCCI of pressurizing the BCCI not to play in the controversial league. According to Pakistani media Geo News, Afridi has been made the brand ambassador of KPL-2. In such a situation, he was asked what message he would like to give to the BCCI regarding this league? To this Afridi said, 'My only message to BCCI is that KPL 2 is happening.'

Afridi has been mired in the past by commenting on Kashmir and even Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He had said about PM Modi, 'The world is infected with a deadly disease, but what is more dangerous is in Modi's heart and mind.' In 2020, Afridi also visited the LoC to show 'solidarity with Kashmiris'.
