Silicon Valley's richest businessman renounces Russian citizenship, angered by the attack on Ukraine

Yuri Milner, Silicon Valley's richest Russian, said on Monday that he had given up his Russian citizenship. Milner completed the entire process of relinquishing citizenship in August. In a tweet, Milner said that he and his family left Russia after the annexation of Crimea in 2014. When Russia invaded Ukraine earlier this year, DST Global condemned Russia's war on Ukraine. Let us tell you that Milner is the owner of DST Global.

Milner was born in Moscow. He was the most prominent technology leader to move his firm away from Russia. Milner's ties with Russia caused some panic in Silicon Valley. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimates Milner's net worth at around $3.5 billion. DST Global has invested heavily in several tech giants including Facebook and Twitter.

DST Global has not taken any money from Russia since 2011. Nor has Miller's company made any investments in Russia. He informed Bloomberg about this in March. "I can't change the fact that I was born in Russia. I also can't change the fact that we had some Russian funds," Milner said in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek in March.

Milner owns a house in Los Altos, California, which he bought in 2011 for $100 million. He holds an O-1 visa in the US, which is popular with business people. This visa is available only to a select few.
