Jaipur, March 18 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi is likely to visit Rajasthan on March 20 and meet farmers affected by rain and hailstorm, state party chief Sachin Pilot said Wednesday.
"She is coming on a day's visit and is expected to visit Kota district where she will meet farmers who have been affected by the recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms," Pilot told IANS.
Later in the day she will meet office bearers of the state Congress and return to Delhi the same evening.
Unseasonal rains and hailstorms last week badly affected crops in at least 26 of the state's 33 districts. Twenty-five people were killed in rain and hailstorm related accidents and hundreds of cattle perished.
The state government has directed officials to submit a detailed assessment of crop damage by March 20.
"The farmers would be provided compensation by April 25," a state government official said.
