new Delhi. Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday claimed to have taken partial steps to deal with the Corona virus crisis, calling for immediate relief to be announced for the help of micro, small and medium industries (MSME) and farmers. He said that 12 crore unemployed in the Corona period, the government should put 7500 rupees in their account to help such people.
In the meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC) through video conferencing, Sonia said that since the CWC meeting held 3 weeks ago, the corona epidemic has spread so far which is disturbing. Some sections of our society, especially farmers, laborers, migrant workers, construction sector workers and people in the unorganized sector have faced a lot of hardship. Commerce and industry and trade have completely stopped and the means of livelihood of crores of people have been snatched away.
The Congress president claimed, "It is unfortunate that partial steps have been taken by the Center." There is a lack of compassion, big heart and alertness.
He said, "We have repeatedly urged the Prime Minister that there is no other option but to investigate the corona virus, detect people who have come in contact with the patient and keep them in isolation." It is unfortunate that the tests are still getting very low and the supply of test kits is low and what is available is also not of good quality. ”He also claimed that the number of PPE kits is poor and the quality is poor.
Sonia said that farmers are facing serious difficulties. Weak and unclear policies of procurement of produce and constrained supply issues need to be resolved without delay. Facilities should be made available to the farmers for the Kharif crop.
He said that the employment of 120 million people in the first phase of lockdown has ended. Unemployment may increase further as economic activity stagnates. In this case, every family needs to provide 7500 thousand rupees.
Sonia urged the government, 'There are about 11 crore people attached to the MSME sector. They contribute one third of our GDP. If they are to be saved from economic ruin, they will have to announce a special package immediately.
