In the opening slot, a substantial innings was expected from KL Rahul; however, he was dismissed after scoring 37 runs off 23 balls. Meanwhile, although Nitish Rana did score 57 runs, his start to the innings was sluggish. Rao also identified Rahul’s inability to get on strike as a significant contributing factor. He noted, “It certainly didn’t help matters that, following Pathum Nissanka’s dismissal, KL Rahul didn’t get much of the strike. If you look at the initial overs, he faced very few deliveries. Axar Also Criticizes Senior Players

Captain Axar Patel echoed these sentiments, taking aim at Delhi’s senior players—Nitish and Rahul. Axar stated, “Missing the run-out opportunity and dropping the catch cost us dearly. Had we taken those chances, he wouldn’t have been able to play such a monumental innings. However, credit goes to him for making the most of those opportunities. Fielding is entirely within our control, and we certainly should have done a better job.”

Abhishek’s Two Reprieves

In fact, during the Sunrisers’ innings—when Abhishek was on 49 runs—he attempted to run two on the very first ball of the ninth over.
