The IMF has agreed to give a loan of $ 2.9 billion over four years to Sri Lanka, which is facing a severe economic crisis, under a preliminary agreement. This will help Sri Lanka to overcome the economic problem and protect the livelihood of the people.
In this regard, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "We have seen the IMF's release regarding the agreement. It aims at macroeconomic stability, debt sustainability, protection of affected people, and expediting organizational reforms. Bagchi said, for this process to go ahead, approval is needed from within the IMF itself. Will have to see what happens next.
