Sri Lanka Crisis: India advocated for a loan to Sri Lanka from IMF, and said- transparency is important in the matter

On the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) announcement of nearly $2.9 billion in loans to Sri Lanka, India on Thursday said it has been advocating aid to the beleaguered country, though issues of "lender equity and transparency" remain important. The IMF has agreed to give a loan of $ 2.9 billion over four years to Sri Lanka, which is facing a severe economic crisis, under a preliminary agreement. This will help Sri Lanka to overcome the economic problem and protect the livelihood of the people.

 

In this regard, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "We have seen the IMF's release regarding the agreement. It aims at macroeconomic stability, debt sustainability, protection of affected people, and expediting organizational reforms. Bagchi said, for this process to go ahead, approval is needed from within the IMF itself. Will have to see what happens next. When Bagchi was asked what was a provocation by Sri Lanka to allow China's 'spy ship' to come here? "I don't know whether the situation should be viewed this way or not.

 

Ambassador to lead India at Eastern Economic Forum

 

The Indian delegation to the upcoming meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok (Russia) will be led by the Indian Ambassador to Russia Pavan Kapoor. The seventh meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum will be held on September 5-8. Regarding the exercise in Vostok, Arindam Bagchi said, India has been participating regularly in military exercises in Russia.

The government wants to ensure that there is no impact on the studies of the students. The government will help the students who want to go to Canada for studies.

 

India will continue to work with America in the terror funding case

 

According to ANI, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that India will continue to work closely with the US on energy security, curbing terrorist funding, and G20-related issues. He said the US is India's strategic partner on bilateral, regional, and global issues. About US Deputy Finance Secretary Wally Adamo's visit to India last week, he said that during this time issues like the global food crisis, energy security, and terrorist funding were discussed.
