Many revelations are being made about the stampede that took place during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha. During the festival, only one gate was open for the entry and exit of common devotees. The exit gate was closed and VIP entry was being done from this.
Eyewitnesses said that there was no separate way for the entry and exit of common devotees. The movement was taking place from only one gate. When the situation went out of control, the police could not control the situation. An eyewitness said, no policeman was seen at the spot. Eyewitnesses said that chaos prevailed near the temple since night. The polythene on which the devotees were sitting became slippery in the rain, due to which people started falling. During this time, many devotees collided with two trucks loaded with puja material that entered there and fell.
A person present at the spot said that the ambulance was standing one km away from the spot. Amidst the screams, people were forced to carry the injured in their hands. A stampede broke out near the Gundicha temple during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri on Sunday morning. Three devotees died in this, while more than 50 were injured. This accident took place in front of the Gundicha temple, about 3 km away from the Jagannath temple.
Wife died due to the negligence of the administration
The husband of the woman who lost her life in the accident alleged that his wife died due to the negligence of the administration. He said, my wife kept asking for water, but there was no one to listen.
