Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal is serving in Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib from today. Sukhbir has been given religious punishment by Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

On Wednesday, there was an attempt at a terrorist attack on Sukhbir during service in Sri Harmandir Sahib. Given this, security has been tightened in Sri Anandpur Sahib. About 400 police personnel and SGPC task force are deployed here. Sukhbir started service at 9 am.

Served in Sri Harmandir Sahib for two days

Sukhbir Badal had earlier served in Sri Harmandir Sahib for two days. On the second day of service, he was shot at but the police promptly arrested the accused Narayan Singh Choudhary. Narayan Choudhary has been a terrorist of Babbar Khalsa International. He went to Pakistan in 1984 and helped smuggle large consignments of weapons and explosives in Punjab during the initial phase of terrorism. While in Pakistan, he has also allegedly written a book on guerrilla warfare and anti-national literature. He is also an accused in the Burail jailbreak case. Narayan has previously served a sentence in a Punjab jail.

After the attack on Sukhbir Badal, CM Bhagwant Mann said that as a result of the promptness of the Punjab Police, the conspiracy to defame Punjab and Punjabis has failed. The police achieved great success by arresting the attacker on the spot with its promptness. I appreciate the promptness of the police. I strongly condemn the attack on Sukhbir Badal. I have issued strict instructions to the police to investigate this incident soon and submit a report.
