What Riyan Parag Said

Speaking to the broadcasters after the match, Riyan Parag stated that his team fell short of expectations, scoring 20 to 30 runs fewer than they should have. The RR captain remarked, “Our bowling was not up to the mark, and our fielding performance was substandard.” He added that if they continue to play in this manner, they will be unable to remain in contention for a spot in the top four.

Parag’s Full Statement

“We fell short in every department. We were in a strong position until the 14th over. After my dismissal, our team failed to capitalize on the opportunity. Our score should have been in the range of 220-230. As far as the bowling is concerned, I feel we did not deliver a performance of the required standard. I preferred to take a chance with Donovan rather than giving another over to Shanaka. That gamble did not pay off.” — RR Captain Riyan Parag

“Our fielding was extremely poor. I believe that if you want to win the trophy, you have to compete fiercely every single year. You have to perform better in the upcoming matches than you did today. I am extremely disappointed with my team’s fielding.” Based on our performance over the last four or five matches, our team is far superior. However, our performance today was  If we continue to play in this manner, we will not be able to remain in contention for the top four spots. Yes, I do believe that the results of other teams will have an impact. I do not wish to lead the team in this fashion. I do not like having to speak to my team in this manner. If we fail to qualify, the fault will lie with us—and no one else. Yes, we will strive to perform better and secure victories in our next two matches.

The Playoff Race Heats Up

It is worth noting that following Delhi’s victory, the race for the playoffs has become incredibly exciting. RCB remains the only team to have officially qualified for the playoffs so far. A fierce battle is currently underway among seven teams for the remaining three spots.
