According to a BBC report, the man accused of murder was shot three times with an assault rifle by the father of the deceased in a packed stadium, killing him. Many Taliban leaders were present to see this punishment given in public. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that Supreme Court judges, military officers, and several senior ministers had also come to see the death sentence.

On 24 November, the Taliban beat 12 people accused of moral crimes in front of a crowd of thousands in a football stadium. Among these 12 people, 3 women were also included. According to a Taliban official, these people were accused of theft, adultery, and gay intimate. This was the second time in November that the Taliban had punished people in a public place for a crime.
