The Punjab Government today added 58 new buses to the fleet of Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS, and PRTC. In these three government and semi-government companies, 842 buses are to be included, which started today by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Vading himself by driving the buses. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that earlier only women had the facility of free bus travel, but from today this facility has been provided to the students of all colleges so that they do not have to leave their studies midway due to the college being far away.
The Chief Minister said that earlier the buses of the government were running in loss due to the running of the transport mafia in Punjab. Our Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Vading has broken the mafia. The daily income of Rs 1 crore has increased, due to which we have been able to buy new buses. Presenting an old song in a new form before leaving the new buses by driving the bus himself, Charanjit Singh Channi said, Aa Gayi roadways di lari, Sohna buha, sohni bari, kar li long safar di preparation.
CM Channi said that Punjab is progressing. Those who were running the transport mafia. By closing them, new buses are being put in the government roadways. The government claims that the private companies, including the Badal family, whose buses were running their illegal buses were closed, due to which the income of Punjab Roadways and PRTC has increased significantly. However, this matter has also gone to the High Court, in which private transporters have got relief, but the government companies have benefited from the strictness of the transport department that now their income is increasing. Apart from this, the effect of providing free bus facilities to women has also been such that now passengers are giving priority to government buses.
Channi, who took over the power of Punjab three months ago, has made many big announcements till now. CM Channi has taken over the command of the state at a time when there are only a few months left for the elections in the state. Charanjit Singh Channi has already announced to reduce electricity prices. Apart from this, the price of sand has also been fixed by the government. The outstanding electricity and water bills have already been waived off. However, the government has failed to explain where the budget for these announcements will come from. Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu himself has been besieging the Channi government on this issue.
