Health Minister Veena George said that the presence of anthrax in wild boar has been confirmed in the Athirapilly forest area. George said in a statement, "There has been a mass death of wild boars in the Athirapilly forest area. This was followed by an investigation by the Health Department, Animal Husbandry Department, and Forest Department. Their samples were tested to confirm the case of anthrax infection." "

 

 

He said the health department was taking immediate steps to stop the spread of anthrax. It affects naturally occurring bacteria in the soil and usually when they come into contact with domestic and wild animals. The Health Department said that people who went to retrieve and bury the carcasses of wild boar are being monitored. They are also being given necessary preventive treatment, he added.

 

Health officials said special care should be taken if animals, including wild boars, are found to be dying in mass. Also, people have been asked not to go to such places. He also requested the people to inform the authorities if any such case comes to the fore.

Regarding the increasing cases of Kovid-19 in Kerala, State Health Minister Veena George said that there is nothing to worry about and people need to take precautions like wearing masks and getting vaccinated as it is necessary to inculcate the habit of living with this virus. . Veena George said that lockdown and other types of restrictions cannot always be imposed to control the spread of coronavirus infection, so everyone should cooperate and follow the rules to prevent the virus from spreading.

The Health Minister said that there is no need for people to worry about the increase in the cases of Kovid-19 as the current situation is being discussed by the Health Department by holding regular meetings.
