new Delhi. US President Donald Trump has stopped funding of WHO. He said that the WHO did not take coronavirus seriously, which the entire world is suffering. If the WHO did its job properly, the epidemic would not spread worldwide. The death toll would also have been much lower.

America has been helping the WHO in 1948 the most every year. According to the WHO website, in two years, the US has helped him with $ 893 million, or 6 thousand 876 crores. This is 15% of the WHO's total funding. This means that the US alone provides 15% of the WHO help worldwide. At the same time, China was helped 10 times less than the US, i.e. $ 86 million (Rs 662 crore).

After America, the WHO is assisted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation of the same billionaire Bill Gates of America. The Foundation helped with $ 530.96 million (Rs. 4 thousand 81 crore).

So will Trump's decision weaken the fight against Corona?

Trump has stalled WHO funding at a time when coronaviruses continue to spread. There have been over 20 lakh cases of corona. More than 1.26 lakh deaths have been reported. America itself is badly affected by Corona. More than 6 lakh patients have been found there and more than 26 thousand deaths have been reported.

This decision by Trump could also weaken the fight against Corona. UN Secretary-General Antonia Guterres says that "this is not the time to reduce the resources of WHO or any organization fighting against Corona." Rather it is to unite against Corona. '

Will Trump's decision affect other things as well?

WHO uses its funds to fight diseases spread around the world and improve health facilities. Funds to WHO go to its headquarters (Geneva, Switzerland) and six regions. These funds are spent from the region and the headquarters.

27% of the funds WHO receives from the US have been spent on eradicating polio. Polio remains a serious disease in many countries of the world including Pakistan.
