This assembly constituency of UP suppressed under the fear of dacoits: SP has not won here till date, the reason is friendship with a dacoit

The Samajwadi Party has formed the government four times in Uttar Pradesh. The Manikpur assembly of Bundelkhand remains its tussle. What did the party not do to win here? Befriended a dacoit. Gave a ticket to dacoit's son, but still empty-handed. Let us understand this magic.

The dacoit Dadua's closeness with SP spoiled the party

Lovelesh, a former head of Bagdari village in Manikpur, says, “Dadua had campaigned for the SP in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. Due to his proximity to the SP, dacoit Dadua climbed on Mayawati's eyes. Maya's government came to power in Uttar Pradesh in 2007. In the same year, Dadua was killed in an encounter."

Dadua went but drowned the SP. The message went to the people that SP was promoting dacoity. Mayawati saved people from such hooliganism. People took an oath, SP should not be allowed to come here.

For 6 decades, dacoits kept bleeding here.

Girish Kumar, former head of Raipur Gram Panchayat of Manikpur, says, “After 1980, there was a rule of dacoit Dadua in Manikpur. The government had also placed a reward of seven lakh rupees on him. Many pradhans and regional leaders were even made here at the behest of Dadua.

Before that, there was a whole gang of dacoits here. There was the terror of dacoits for 6 decades in the Patha area of Chitrakoot. On the strength of their terror, these dacoits created bloodshed in many villages of UP and MP along with Manikpur. It has the 4 biggest names.

1 - Years 1965 to 1980 - Dacoit Gaya Prasad

The entire Chitrakoot used to tremble due to the terror of dacoit Gaya Prasad, it is said that as soon as it was evening here, the houses were locked due to his fear. Gaya Prasad always kept his distance from politics.

2- The year 1980 to 2007 - Dacoit Dadua

Dacoit Dadua became the successor of Dasyu Gaya Prasad. He always interfered in regional politics, also campaigned for SP in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, had an encounter with the BSP government.

3- Years 2007 to 2008 - Dacoit Nokia

In July 2007, Thokia ambushed STF personnel and opened indiscriminate fire. 6 commandos were martyred in this incident. On 04 August 2008, he was killed in an encounter by the STF in the village of Thokia, Silkhori.

4- Year 2009 to 2021 - Dacoit Gauri Yadav

More than 60 cases of murder, kidnapping, ransom were registered against Gauri Yadav in many police stations of UP and MP. Gauri Yadav was killed by the STF on 30 October 2021 in an encounter in the forest of Bahilpurwa.

When Dadua created terror in Manikpur, there were Congress MLAs here.

In the year 1952, Darshan Ram of Congress, in 1957, 1962, and 1969, Siya Dulari of Congress was the MLA here. Then in 1967, in Indra Pal of Jana Sangh, in 1974, Laxmi Prasad Verma of Jana Sangh did the legislature. Since 1977, Ramesh Chandra Kuril has been of the Jana Sangh. Then in 1980 and 1985, Shiromani Bhai of Congress was elected MLA from this seat. This was the time when dacoit Dadua created panic here.

After Congress, people trusted BJP, but nothing happened

When people started feeling that Congress and Jana Sangh have not been able to do any special work in freeing the area from the terror of dacoits, they gave a chance to the BJP. In 1989 and 1993, Mannu Lal of BJP became MLA from Kuril Manikpur's seat.

The election of BJP MLA from Manikpur had enraged the dacoit Dadua. Dadua set fire to the entire village in 1992 after killing three people in Madayan village. There was a lot of bloodsheds.

BSP ended Daduaraj and became a favorite

Seeing the growing goondaraj, people once again elected a new government for the seat. In 1996, Daddu Prasad of BSP was made MLA. The bullying reduced under his rule, so the public handed over the Manikpur seat to the BSP in 2002 and 2007 as well.

Seeing the public's trust, BSP put full emphasis on the elimination of dacoit Dadua in 2007, and on 22 July 2007, Dadua was killed by the STF in the Jhalmal forest of Manikpur. This was the reason that after Daddu Prasad, in 2012 also BSP candidate Chandrabhan Singh was elected MLA from this seat.

BJP snatched BSP's chair by making a master plan

Seeing the dominance of BSP in the Manikpur seat, BJP made a master plan in the 2017 assembly elections. The party made former BSP MLA RK Patel a candidate and made him contest the legislative election from this seat. BJP's plan worked and Patel got a big victory. When Patel won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, by-elections were held on his vacant seat.

For the first time in the by-election, it seemed that after centuries, the magic of SP would work in this seat, because this time the fight was between Anand Shukla of BJP and Dr. Nirbhay Singh of SP, but in a tough contest, Anand Shukla won and once again SP's dream of winning Manikpur seat remained unfulfilled.

Even today the villages of this assembly are waiting for development

Manikpur Vidhan Sabha of Chitrakoot district is known to be one of the least developed seats in the state. There are 2 lakh 76 thousand 314 lakh voters and most of the population belongs to the scheduled castes. For 50 years this area was under the fear of dacoits like Gaya Prasad, Shiv Kumar Dadua, and Ambika Patel Thokia, leaving most of the villages here away from development.
