Amidst the ongoing military escalation from China, India is deploying a new drone unit, increasing its surveillance capability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) from eastern Ladakh to Sikkim. This unmanned aircraft will be able to carry out its mission continuously for 48 hours. New drones equipped with extreme surveillance capability will keep an eye on Chinese military activities. A squadron (fleet) will be deployed near the eastern Ladakh region. While the second fleet will be deployed in the 'Chicken Neck' sector located in the east.
Satellite drones will monitor LAC from Ladakh to Sikkim
Defense sources said that from eastern Ladakh to Sikkim and its surrounding areas would be better monitored. These drones given to the Indian Army are connected with satellite communication links and their sensors. It is more advanced than its current batch. With the increase in surveillance capability, precise and accurate intelligence can be obtained without any human help. Ground stations operating these unmanned aircraft will also be more empowered with these advanced drones.
Minor activities can be traced in real-time
Through the satellite communication system, the smallest remote activities can be traced in real-time. Although the new drones are not yet equipped with strike capability, there is an option to build them up to that standard. India is also working on the ambitious Project Cheetah. Under this, the security forces also want to upgrade the existing Heron of Israeli origin.
So that the communication facility and the ability to strike with missiles at long distances will increase. As per the plan, the project is to be led by Indian companies along with Israeli producer companies. The Air Force has taken the lead in this project. Under this, there is a plan to upgrade drones in the Indian Navy and Army as well.
