Uber travel expensive: Uber hikes fares by 12% in Delhi-NCR, explains reason for increased oil prices

Posted on 12th Apr 2022 03:02 pm by rohit kumar

Uber has increased fares by 12% in Delhi-NCR. The company has said that it has taken this decision due to oil prices. This is going to cost the passengers a lot and the increased fares will give relief to the cab drivers from the effect of a hike in fuel prices. Suppose if you were paying 200 rupees for a journey, then now you have to pay 224 rupees. Petrol in Delhi is being sold at Rs 105.41 per liter and diesel at Rs 96.67 per liter.

Fares increased on demand of drivers

Uber India and South Asia Head of Central Operations Nitish Bhushan has stated this. He said, “We listen to the feedback from the drivers and understand that the hike in fuel prices is a cause for concern. To help drivers deal with the hike in fuel prices, Uber has reduced the travel fare by 12% in Delhi-NCR. In the coming weeks, we will continue to track the movement of fuel prices and take further steps as needed."

Ola also increased fares by 11%

Uber and Ola have already increased fares in many places amid rising rates of petrol-diesel-CNG. For the past several days, the drivers of Uber and Ola have been demanding an increase in the fare. Uber has increased fares by up to 15% in several cities. Ola has also increased the fares by up to 11%.

Ola in a message to the drivers said that keeping in view the increase in fuel prices, we are happy to inform you that we have changed the fare. This will help you earn more. Now your income per kilometer will increase by 11%.

Now fare of 15 km in Ola is Rs 14.5

Till now in the mini category in Ola, the rate was Rs 9.5 per km up to 18 km. Now it has been increased to 10.5 km/km. After 18 km, the rate was 11.80 paise per km, which has been reduced to Rs 12.60. Similarly, for the first 15 km in the prime category, the rate was Rs 12 per km, which has now been reduced to Rs 13.1. After 15 km, the customer was charged Rs 13 per km, which has now been increased to Rs 14.5.

Earlier, Uber had increased fares by 15% in Mumbai and 12% in Kolkata. Ola and Uber have increased fares for the second time in the last year. Earlier in July last year, both the companies had increased the fare by 15%.
