Russian troops have breached Ukraine's military defense wall at two places and advanced into Ukrainian territory. Ukraine has described the situation as difficult, while its Western allies have announced additional military aid. Meanwhile, Ukraine has claimed to have shot down most of Russia's six spy balloons hovering in the sky of the capital Kyiv.

pushed back the Ukrainian army

Russia's Defense Ministry has said that the Ukrainian army has been pushed back in Luhansk province. This has happened on other fronts as well. It has been told that in some places the Ukrainian army has gone back up to three kilometers. The ministry has not given detailed information in this regard. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukrainian forces have repelled attacks by Russian forces in several places but the situation remains difficult.

fear haunting Zelensky

Zelensky has said that Russia wants to capture as much territory as possible before the Ukrainian army receives major weapons from the allies. He called for an immediate supply of fighter jets and long-range missiles. Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haidai has said that Russia is carrying out attacks with heavy weapons and has deployed a large number of troops in Luhansk. Attacks are happening from many sides simultaneously, so it is becoming difficult to counter them.

Attacks surrounding Bakhmut city of Donetsk province

The governor said that the attacks are being carried out by encircling the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk province. But Ukrainian forces are fighting from underground bases in the city. There is also news of the Russian army moving towards the Kramotorsk and Sloviansk cities of Donetsk. Meanwhile, EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell has asked allies to send tanks to Ukraine as soon as possible. Borrell's statement came amidst the confusion of Germany sending tanks and the refusal of Denmark and the Netherlands.
