Ukraine's Independence Day today, Russia will do the biggest attack: Putin sent heavy missiles; America alerted

This is the fear of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In his speech 4 days before the independence day of Ukraine, he warned the people of the country.

'Stay at home and heed the warnings

This warning has been issued by the governor of Ukraine's second largest city Kharkiv to its citizens. Curfew has been imposed till 24 August because of the Russian firing in Kharkiv.

This fear of Zelensky and the governor of Kharkiv is not unfounded. Many reports confirm this…

First reason: Ukraine was liberated from Soviet Russia on August 24

On 24 August 1991, 31 years ago, Ukraine declared independence from Soviet Russia.

Second reason: 6 months after the Russian attack on Ukraine was completed on August 24

On 24 February this year, Russia waged war against Ukraine. It was believed that Russia would end this war in a week, but even after 6 months, most of Russia's success is confined to eastern Ukraine.

At the beginning of the war, Russia had occupied the capital Kyiv, but by April Ukraine had recaptured almost all of these areas. After this Russia stopped advancing toward Kyiv.

Russia has launched some missile attacks toward the western city of Lev, but it has not had much success there.

The most fierce battles between Russian and Ukrainian armies have taken place in eastern Ukraine i.e. Donbas region and southern Ukraine.

For the past several days, a war has been going on between Russian and Ukrainian armies around the Zaporizhia power plant in southern Ukraine.

In eastern Ukraine, the Donbas, Russia has occupied Luhansk and is advancing into Donetsk.

Apart from the Donbas, Russia's only success has come in the capture of Kherson, a city in the south, which Ukraine is trying to regain.

Before the attack in February this year, Russia controlled 7% of Ukraine's territory, including Crimea. Russia now occupies about 22% of Ukraine's territory. However, Russia's success in the war that began in 2022 has been limited to the Donbas region.

Let us now know how much damage was done in the war that has been going on for 6 months…

According to the United Nations, more than 10 million Ukrainians have fled the country and taken refuge in other countries since the Russian attack on February 24. Most of them are women and children as Ukrainian citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 have been asked to stay in the country and join the fight.

According to reports, Russia has suffered a loss of about $ 300 billion i.e. about 24 lakh crore rupees, and Ukraine $ 600 billion i.e. about 48 lakh crore rupees due to this war.

According to Ukraine, its 38,000 residential buildings, and 1900 education institutes have been destroyed in the war. Apart from this, 50 rail bridges, 500 factories, and 500 hospitals have also been destroyed. According to the WHO, there have been 296 Russian attacks on hospitals, ambulances, and medical workers in Ukraine.

Let us finally know why did Russia attack Ukraine?

As soon as it became independent, Ukraine started trying to get rid of Russian influence and for this, it increased its closeness with the western countries. In 2010, Russia-backed Viktor Yanukovich became President of Ukraine.

Yanukovich maintained close ties with Russia and rejected Ukraine's decision to join the European Union, which met with strong opposition in Ukraine. Because of this, Viktor Yanukovich had to step down in 2014.

In the same year, Petro Poroshenko, who became the President of Ukraine, signed a deal with the European Union. In 2014, Russia occupied the Ukrainian city of Crimea by attacking it.

In December 2021, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky announced joining NATO, which angered Russia. On 24 February 2022, Russia attacked Ukraine because of the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO.

Ukraine has a border of more than 2 thousand kilometers with Russia. Russia fears that if Ukraine joins NATO, NATO forces will reach the Russian border. With Ukraine joining NATO, the distance between Russia's capital Moscow from the western countries will be only 640 km instead of 1600 km.
