On the National Logistics Policy, Anurag Jain, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), said on Friday that the work done by us in the last year in the infrastructure sector is yielding positive results. People also believe that the objective with which it was started is yielding much better results, he said. As per the feedback of the departments, there has been a benefit in infrastructure. This saves time.

He said the quality of planning of the National Logistics Policy has improved a lot, thereby saving time in its implementation. Anurag Jain said, during the review of the scheme at the highest level, its use in the social sector is being considered. He said, after that, we started the discussion with the social sector with five departments. After this, our work started. Although it will take some time, there will be better utilization of resources by the departments.

What is National Logistics Policy?

The policy plans to focus on areas such as process engineering, digitization, and multi-modal transport. The cost of logistics is high in India as compared to other economies. That's why it is needed. Reducing logistics costs in India is imperative for improving the competitiveness of Indian goods in both domestic and export markets. The policy is a comprehensive effort to address the issues associated with high costs and lack of efficiency by laying down a comprehensive inter-sectoral and multi-jurisdictional framework for the development of the entire ecosystem of logistics. Under this policy, efforts will be made to bring down the cost of logistics from about 13 percent of GDP to 7.5 percent.
