Lucknow, Feb 20 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a social audit of all 52,000 village panchayats in the state, an official said Friday.
This has been necessitated to ensure transparency and proper redressal of issues, the official added that chief secretary Alok Ranjan has issued directives for uploading of audit findings on government websites.
Ranjan allayed fears that the purpose of social audit was not to punish any employee but to ensure improvements in the fucntioning of government departments.
The chief secretary has also asked officials to see that members of social audit do not feel any problem during on the spot investigations.
Ranjan said the purpose of social audit is to benefit the most eligible candidates and to bring improvement in the processing. He said that every effort should be ensured to benefit the eligible citizens of government schemes at Gram Panchayat level.
