US President Joe Biden has said he will never allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. He said this during talks with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid on Wednesday to discuss global and regional security challenges. It also included the issue of the nuclear threat posed by Iran.

According to the White House, Biden commended Lapid for the warm welcome he received during his visit to Israel in July. He said that it was a visit that further strengthened the unbreakable friendship between the two countries. During this, Biden also insisted on holding maritime boundary talks between Israel and Lebanon. According to the White House, the president also held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi. During this, they discussed topics such as America's support and cooperation for a sovereign and independent Iraq.

Biden lauded Kadhimi's leadership during rising tensions and violence, the readout said, adding that he praised the performance of Iraqi security forces and offered condolences to the families of those killed in recent fighting. Meanwhile, the US President and Prime Minister welcomed the return of safety on the streets and called on all Iraqi leaders to engage in a national dialogue to create a common path in line with Iraq's constitution and laws. The president eventually offered his full support for Prime Minister Kadimi's efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region through dialogue and diplomacy.

Let us tell you, Iraq's Shia cleric Muktada al-Sadr said on Monday that he may shun politics. After this, there was resentment among the supporters of the cleric and they stormed the President's palace and other government offices in protest.
