England defeated India by four wickets in the second ODI at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, leveling the three-match series. While England celebrated the victory, the match witnessed several memorable milestones, including Virat Kohli equaling Sir Vivian Richards' record, Rohit Sharma and Kohli crossing 8,000 partnership runs, and a viral moment involving a seagull struck by Shreyas Iyer's shot.

Virat Kohli scored 65 runs, registering his 14th ODI score of 50 or more against England, equaling the legendary Sir Vivian Richards.

Only Kumar Sangakkara, with 15 fifty-plus scores against England, now stands ahead of Kohli on the all-time list.

Rohit-Kohli Cross 8,000 Partnership Runs

India's most successful modern batting duo reached another major milestone during the match.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli completed 8,021 partnership runs across international cricket.

The pair added 60 runs for the second wicket in Cardiff.

They are now India's third-highest run-scoring partnership in international cricket.

Bumrah Creates Historic Record

Jasprit Bumrah provided India with a dream start by dismissing Ben Duckett off the very first ball of England's innings.

With that breakthrough, Bumrah became the first Indian bowler to claim a wicket with the opening delivery of an ODI innings against England.

Joe Root Overtakes Kohli in Elite ODI List

England's Joe Root remained unbeaten on 99, guiding his side to victory.

His innings lifted his average while chasing in ODIs to 91.59, moving him ahead of Virat Kohli (89.07). Only MS Dhoni (102.71) has a better ODI chase average among batters with more than 2,000 chasing runs.

Root also became the first England batter to finish unbeaten on 99 in an ODI.

Shreyas Iyer's Shot Injures Seagull

One of the most unusual moments of the match occurred during India's innings.

A powerful cover drive from Shreyas Iyer struck a seagull resting on the field during the 33rd over. Play was briefly stopped as England's Jacob Bethell carefully carried the injured bird off the field before the match resumed.

Other Key Moments

Jofra Archer and Gurnoor Brar exchanged heated words after a series of aggressive short-pitched deliveries.

Jasprit Bumrah surprised everyone with the bat by smashing 18 runs in a single over, including three boundaries and a six.

Harry Brook underwent a concussion check after being struck on the helmet by a delivery from Gurnoor Brar, but was cleared to continue.

Series Set Up for Decider

England's four-wicket victory levels the ODI series, setting up a thrilling decider. Despite India's defeat, Virat Kohli's record-equalling innings, Rohit-Kohli's partnership milestone, and Bumrah's historic achievement ensured the Cardiff ODI will be remembered for several remarkable moments beyond the final result.
