Adelaide, Feb 7 (IANS) Having missed the 2011 edition of the World Cup, India’s right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma Saturday sounded motivated and confident ahead of a warm-up clash against the hosts Australia and for the quadrennial event starting Feb 14.
“Once you wear the Indian jersey, it is motivation enough to go and perform on the field. If you are not motivated enough wearing the Indian jersey, then you are just doing yourself a favour by showing up on the ground,” Sharma said.
“I missed out on the last World Cup in India and I am keen to make this one count and make it big without putting much pressure on myself.”
Rohit insisted the Indians will try to be unfazed by the magnitude of an India-Pakistan encounter when they meet here Feb 15, and will look to just execute the ‘process’ of churning out a result in their favour.
“It will be a big game against Pakistan. But we need to concentrate more on the process rather than taking it as an India-Pakistan game. The result will take care of itself if we concentrate on the process and we know what we need to do to be at our best,” Rohit, has scored 3890 runs from 127 One-Day Internationals said.
