On Wednesday evening, mock drills will be held at five places in every district of Delhi. War sirens will be sounded. Civil defence volunteers, police and other departments will participate in it. In the East district, mock drills will be held at Scope Minar, Kondli Market, IP Extension, NSUIT in Geeta Colony at 4 pm.

 

Let us tell you that after the Home Ministry's instructions for mock drills amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, senior Delhi Police officials have asked all DCPs to prepare a detailed plan for preparations.

 

He informed that Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have started meetings with senior police officials to strengthen patrolling in the national capital.

 

Day and night patrolling increased in Delhi.

 

A source said, "We have increased day and night patrolling in the city. We have also deployed paramilitary forces along with policemen on Delhi's borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Security has already been increased in the city. DCPs are personally monitoring the arrangements in their districts. They are holding meetings with Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs)."

 

What is a mock drill?

 

Mock drill is a kind of exercise which is done in an emergency situation. Usually mock drill is done to avoid natural disasters, fire, terrorist attacks and other crises. Its purpose is to keep people alert about the impending danger and increase awareness.

 

Mock drills include exercises like air raid warning system, hotline radio communication link with the Indian Air Force, defense training for common people, and crash blackout measures.
