Following the Israeli and US attacks and Iran's retaliatory strikes, tensions are rising across West Asia. Meanwhile, the US has issued a warning, urging American citizens living in more than 12 Middle Eastern countries to evacuate immediately. This decision was taken in light of the heightened tensions following the US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran and Iran's subsequent retaliatory strikes.
Immediately Evacuate These Countries
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a video message, urged his citizens to evacuate immediately. He stated that security threats are currently very serious and saving civilian lives is the government's top priority. The government has also released helpline numbers for citizens. This advisory applies to countries such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon, Iran, Oman, Iraq, Qatar, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
Six American soldiers have been killed so far
Meanwhile, US Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that six American soldiers have been killed in the conflict so far. The bodies of two of these soldiers were recently recovered from the site where Iran launched the initial attack. Large-scale military operations are still ongoing. The identities of the killed soldiers are currently being withheld.
How did the conflict begin?
The tensions began on February 28th. That day, the US and Israel jointly launched missile attacks on several Iranian cities. These attacks targeted Iranian military command centers, missile sites, and government buildings. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, and four senior military officials were killed in the attack.
Iran retaliated strongly. Iran has also launched ballistic missile and drone attacks on US bases in West Asia, including Israel. This has significantly increased the threat to civilians throughout the region. President Donald Trump has made it clear that the military campaign against Iran will continue. Trump says he wants to completely eliminate Iran's missile capability and nuclear ambitions.
