Why is Dragon worried about Nepalese PM Deuba's visit to India? Can China's BRI plan be stuck in limbo

Before Nepal's Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba visits India, China may get a big setback. Let us inform you that Prime Minister Deuba will leave for India on January 10 to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. Deuba's visit to India comes at a time when China is trying hard to implement its debt trap Belt and Road plan in Nepal. On the other hand, after the formation of the new government under the leadership of Deuba in Nepal, good relations with India are being expected. Before this, during the tenure of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the relations between India and Nepal reached a very delicate phase on many issues including the border. In such a situation, the question arises whether the Deuba government of Nepal can also follow the path of Oli and resume talks on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with China? Why has the visit of the Nepalese prime minister raised concerns for China? Will his visit deepen ties between India and Nepal? Why is China closely watching Deuba's visit?

China wants to trap in a debt trap

Pro. Harsh V Pant said that the Belt and Road Initiative is an ambitious plan of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Through this, China plans to connect Asia with Africa and Europe by land and sea. However, China is making poor countries its economic slaves by giving huge amounts of loans to the poor countries behind this project. In Asia, Sri Lanka and Laos are the biggest victims of China's BRI scheme. This year Australia also gave a big blow to China. Australia pulled out of this ambitious plan of China. China was peppered with this plan of Australia.

In the year 2017, Nepal had signed the project of China.

1- Nepal and China signed the Belt and Road Initiative in the year 2017. When Nepal signed the BRI agreement, it was seen as an important link in Nepal-China relations. According to several government officials in Nepal, now the exchange of draft implementation plans with both sides, negotiations on projects, and their commencement under the Belt and Road Initiative were expected. However, due to the geopolitical situation, the Government of Nepal had so far shown reluctance against the Chinese project. Nepal was still reluctant to approve the project due to the anger of India and America.

2- Pushpa Chamal Dahal of the Communist Party of Nepal was the prime minister at the time of the signing of the BRI agreement with China. Dahal was inclined towards China. This was followed by a change of power in Nepal. After him, Sher Bahadur Deuba of the Nepali Congress-led the government. He was followed by KP Sharma Oli of CPN-UML as the Prime Minister. Now once again Deuba has become the Prime Minister of Nepal and Prachanda is also included in his government. In such a situation, the BRI is once again seen gaining momentum.

3- Five neighboring countries of India are part of China's BRI plan. These include Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. In these countries, China is developing infrastructure with its own money. In such a situation, the amount of Chinese debt on these countries is increasing day by day. Not only this, due to accelerating the flow of money, China's interference in the diplomacy of these countries is also increasing. In such a situation, the threat to India is also increasing. In this regard, India has expressed its concern to China.

Deuba was an old friend of India, met Modi in 2017

Pro. Pant says that India has not yet officially given a statement regarding the ongoing political changes in Nepal, but old experience shows that whenever Deuba has taken power, it has helped a lot in removing doubts in the relationship between the two countries. has been found. In the year 2017, a few days after becoming the PM, he came to Delhi and met PM Narendra Modi, and to a great extent, the tension in the relations between the two countries ended. After that general elections were held in Nepal and then the government of KP Sharma Oli was formed. After the formation of the government of Oli again, the activism of China increased further there. Oli took steps like amending the constitution to include some areas of India in Nepal. Deuba, on the other hand, has traditionally been soft on matters ranging from economic relations with India to the Madheshis. Deuba is becoming the PM of Nepal at a time when China's efforts to take the influence of other neighboring countries of India are at their peak.
