Why is Pakistan so saddened by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to India?

Even after the end of the G20 summit in the Indian capital New Delhi, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud has put his state visit to India on hold since September 11. Whereas, most of the heads of state have returned home. During this, he had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu.

 

Had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Crown Prince Hyderabad House. In the meeting, PM Modi said, "For India, Saudi Arabia is one of our most important strategic partners. As two large and fast-growing economies of the world, our cooperation is important for the peace and stability of the entire region. In our talks, we have identified several initiatives to take our partnership to the next level."

The state visit of the Saudi Crown Prince is coming soon after the announcement of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IECC EC). On September 9, India, America, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Italy, and the European Union also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the India-Middle East Europe Economic Corridor.

The approval of this economic corridor in the G20 is being seen as a response to the China-Pakistan Belt and Road Initiative. Although this initiative is very important for the economies of India, the Middle East, and Europe, discussions regarding it have started in Pakistan. Pakistan expects an investment of 25 billion dollars from Saudi

According to reports, Pakistan is expecting an investment of up to $25 billion in the country from Saudi Arabia. Pakistan's acting Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakkar has said that the Saudi investment will be made in mining, agriculture, and information technology sectors and is a part of efforts to increase foreign direct investment in Pakistan.

 

The Crown Prince can visit Islamabad

Pakistan, which is going through a terrible economic crisis, also wants the Saudi Crown Prince to visit Pakistan while returning from India. However, the Foreign Ministries of both countries have not yet formally announced any visit. But, it has been claimed in Pakistani media that the Saudi Crown Prince may visit Islamabad.

 

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud last visited Pakistan in 2019, when Imran Khan was the country's Prime Minister. Pakistan is also keen on the Crown Prince's visit to the country because officials in Pakistan believe that the Saudi Crown Prince not visiting Pakistan would lead to public criticism.
