On March 3, Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian will resume the broken talks between Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the United Kisan Morcha and Bharatiya Kisan Union Ugrahan. Both farmer organizations have been invited to a meeting at Punjab Bhawan at 4 p.m. today.
This meeting is very important.
This meeting is also important because just yesterday, the state government carried out a major operation and removed the fronts of the United Kisan Morcha non-political in Shambhu and Khanauri for the last year, which is being criticized by the opposition across the state and it is being called a betrayal with the farmers.
On the other hand, the ministers of the state government are claiming that the state was suffering a lot due to these protests, so they have been removed. Now in such a situation, an attempt is being made to cool the anger of the farmers by once again starting talks with the opposing faction of the United Kisan Morcha Political, which was not allowed to march to Chandigarh just fifteen days ago.
The Chief Minister had left the meeting in the middle.
In the notice issued by the Director of Agriculture Department, Jaswant Singh, the leaders of the United Kisan Morcha Punjab Chapter and the Bharatiya Kisan Union Ugrahan have been called. On March 3, only eight of the 18 demands of the farmers were discussed when the Chief Minister left the meeting in the middle.
However, later the farmer leaders alleged that the Chief Minister's claim that their demands were related to the Central Government and not the Punjab Government was wrong.
The march of both the farmer organizations to Chandigarh on March 5 regarding these demands was forcibly suppressed by the state government. A few days later, the farmer organizations held a conference in Chandigarh itself and challenged the Chief Minister to come to our meeting and prove that their demands were related to the Central Government, not the state. But Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann did not come to this meeting.
Protest against the Center, I am ready to support: Bhullar.
Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that he is ready to leave all his posts and sit on a dharna with the farmers. He said that I request the farmers of Punjab with folded hands that whatever their demands are, they are related to the Center.
The farmers of the state should protest against the central government. If the demands of the farmers were related to Punjab, he would have stood with the farmers. Bhullar said that I am also from a farming family, so I stand with the farmers.
Industrial development of the state was hampered due to the sit-in: Cheema.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that strong industrial development is needed in Punjab to create employment opportunities. He expressed concern over the adverse impact of prolonged road closures on major borders like Shambhu and Khanauri due to protests against the policies of the central government.
These highways being closed for more than a year has seriously affected the economy of Punjab and industrial development has been hampered. Appealed to the farmers not to disrupt the infrastructure of Punjab.
