The temperature in the world's coldest city has reached -50 degrees Celsius. The situation is that all the food items are frozen in ice. To drink water, the ice has to be melted first. This is Yakutsk city in Russia. According to the local Meteorological Department, the temperature here can go up to -62 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

There are mines of Gold, Diamond, and Uranium in this area, from which people get a good income. This is the reason why people live here despite the bitter cold.

Arctic icy winds brought down the temperature

Yakutsk is located 5000 kilometers east of Moscow. Here the temperature in winter remains around -40 degrees. But due to the icy winds coming from the Arctic, at present, the temperature has gone down further.

More than 3 lakh people live here. It is bitterly cold from October to April, especially from December to February. In these months the snow becomes hard as stone. It becomes difficult to get out of the house. Things remain normal for the rest of the months.

people dressed like cabbage

Nurgusun Starostina, who lives in Yakutsk, says there is only one way to survive the winter – to dress in layers like cabbage. Nargusun sells frozen fish in the market. Due to the minus temperature, they do not even need a fridge to keep the fish.

Marina Levina also sells fish in this market. She says that people's bones have frozen because of the cold. To avoid the cold one has to wear so many clothes that even talking and breathing becomes difficult. It is even more difficult to work, but to run the house, one has to come to the market to sell fish.

The brain gets ready to bear the cold

Anastasia Gruzdeva from Yakutsk says you can't fight a cold. You either wear a lot of clothes or you freeze in winter. She leaves the house wearing two scarves, two pairs of gloves, several hats, and several jackets. They say that the mind prepares you to bear the cold. Then you don't feel so cold.
