
Food delivery company Zomato is once again embroiled in controversies. This time the matter is about learning the Hindi language. A Chennai customer has alleged that he was labeled a 'liar' for not knowing Hindi. The customer says that an officer working in the company told him that he should know Hindi a little because it is our 'national language'. The customer tweeted about the dispute and shared a screenshot of the conversation with the employee. Vikas said in his complaint that one of the items he ordered did not arrive.
The customer said to return the money, the language issue is not my issue
In the screenshots of the chats shared by Vikas, he is seen arguing with the Zomato executive over the order. In this conversation, the Zomato chat support executive tells the customer that he has spoken to the restaurant five times but there is a 'language barrier'. To this the customer replies, it's not my problem. You get the money back as soon as possible.
the employee lost his job
According to the latest information, Zomato has fired an employee who argued over the Hindi language of the customer. The company said on its Twitter handle that we have fired the employee for negligence towards our diverse culture. The termination is in line with our protocol and employee behavior was clearly against the principles of sensitivity for which we train our agents regularly.
The company clarified, said- we are soon bringing the app in the Tamil language
The company said that the statements of the dismissed employee do not represent our company. Zomato further said that it is making a Tamil version of its mobile app and has already localized its marketing communications in the local language in the state.
Users pulled up on social media
The matter quickly went viral on social media after this tweet of an argument with Zomato was posted. People pulled up the employee on social media for questioning the language and demanded strict action against him. At the same time, Zomato Care called it 'unacceptable'. Zomato later said, 'Vikas, as per our telephonic conversation, your grievances have been resolved. You must come to us for any kind of further help.

DMK MP Senthil Kumar also shared Vikas's tweet on his handle. The MP demanded Zomato to fix its accountability. He said, 'Why should a customer in Tamil Nadu know Hindi, and on what basis did you say that he should have some knowledge of Hindi.
