Corona Vaccine: Center has received 65.25 doses of Covishield and 9.1 crore doses of Covaxin till September 19

For the ongoing war in the country against the corona epidemic, Serum Institute has given a total of 65.25 crores Covishield and Bharat Biotech 91 crore Covoxin vaccines to the government till 19 September. This official information was given on Friday.

 

 

According to Prakash Kumar Singh, director of government and regulatory affairs of Pune-based pharmaceutical company Serum Institute, the company delivered 20.29 lakh doses in September as promised in August. SII informed the government that it would be able to supply 22 crore doses in October.

 

 

Export of surplus vaccine allowed

Official sources said that the government has allowed the export of surplus vaccines from the fourth quarter of the current financial year. So that supplements can be given to the 'Covax Global Pool' under the 'Vaccine Friendship' programme. Pune-based Serum has increased its Covishield production capacity to 200 million doses per month.

 

Serum Director Prakash Singh assured the government that the company will supply 66 crore Covidshield doses by December 31 under the current order, while by the end of 2021, it will supply more than 130 crore Covishield doses.

 

89 crore doses have been administered across the country

So far, more than 89 crore doses have been administered under the ongoing vaccination campaign in the country. On 20 September, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced that India would resume exports of its surplus COVID vaccine from the fourth quarter. This will be done under the Covax campaign, but vaccination of the people of the country will remain on top priority.
