IND vs AUS Playing-11: First T20 between India and Australia today, who will get the chance between Ishan-Yashasvi and Sundar-Akshar?

Posted on 23rd Nov 2023 by rohit kumar

Team India, which recently faced defeat against Australia in the final of the ODI World Cup, will play a five-match T20 series against Australia from Thursday. The first match to be held in Visakhapatnam will start at 7 pm, while the toss will take place half an hour before that i.e. at 6:30 pm.

The Indian team may not have been able to properly bear the sorrow of that defeat that it had to play against the same team that had defeated them. Suryakumar Yadav will captain Team India in this series, while Rituraj Gaikwad will be the vice-captain in the first three matches. Shreyas Iyer will return in the last two matches and will be the vice-captain.

However, it is not an easy task to forget the World Cup defeat, and then Suryakumar has to lead a young team against the mighty Australia in just 96 hours. He won't even get a chance to introspect, but T20 is his favorite format and he will be ready to play in it. Being the captain of the team, his responsibility will not only be to register wins but also to identify those players who can stake their claim for the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in the West Indies and America next year.

Players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Jitesh Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar have made their international debut in recent months, but their first test will be against a strong Australian team which features some World Cup-winning players like the opening batsman Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, leg spinner Adam Zampa and former captain Steve Smith are included.

Apart from this, players like Marcus Stoinis, Nathan Ellis, and Tim David who performed well in IPL are also included in the Australian team. Despite the absence of their key fast bowlers, the Matthew Wade-led team looks quite strong. After the defeat in the semi-finals of the T-20 World Cup last year, the names of captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul are not being considered for playing in the shortest format and in such a situation the selectors are considering this series next year. This will help in preparing the blueprint of the team for the upcoming T-20 World Cup.

Rinku again has a chance to show her fiery attitude

Aligarh's Rinku Singh has impressed in all the matches he has played for India so far. The same applies to Bhadauhi's Yashasvi, Tilak, and Mukesh while Jitesh, who made his debut during the Asian Games, will have to wait due to the presence of Ishan Kishan.

These Indian players have so far faced mediocre attacks in the West Indies, Ireland, and Asian Games. In such a situation, his real test will be in front of the Australian attack with the presence of bowlers like Kane Richardson, Nathan Ellis, Sean Abbott, and left-arm Jason Behrendorff.

There are 11 T20 matches before the IPL

India has to play 11 T-20 international matches before the IPL. The T20 World Cup will be played after the two-month-long IPL. So the next few months will be extremely important for these young players as they try to strengthen their claim for a place in the squad for the World Cup.

Bowlers will also be tested in this series. Ravi Bishnoi may get to play more matches while fast bowlers Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh may be rotated. Akshar Patel, who returned after recovering from injury, may also get a chance to play in all five matches of the series.

Opening race between Ishaan and Yashasvi

Interim coach VVS Laxman is working on the batting order and with Shubman Gill returning for the series against South Africa, India will have plenty of options at the top. There is every possibility that either Jaiswal or Kishan will open the innings along with Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Suryakumar will come out to bat at number three or four. Unlike the ODI team, India's T20 team has many left-handed players. These include Jaiswal, Kishan, Tilak Verma, and Rinku Singh as well as all-rounders Akshar Patel, Shivam Dubey, and Washington Sundar.
